Would you agree that behind every great leader, is a great personal assistant? While leaders have the power and influence to make decisions that can affect the future vision and plans for a business, they’re not the ones making it tick. There’s another person that is an unsung hero who can provide support and assist across multiple divisions in a company and make sure diaries are planned, meetings are booked, research is documented and clients are greeted with professionalism. First impressions count and most people don’t walk into an office to be greeted by a CEO, these unsung heroes matter…
The advent of technology allowing connections to anywhere at anytime has had a significant impact on how we work. Many people are no longer content to tie themselves to one employer and prefer to sell their skills in the global marketplace to buyers with whom they perceive a connection or to those whose requirements match their skills.
Every freelancer I’ve ever spoken with has usually asked me this one question, “How can I find better quality clients and win more freelance projects?”.
I’ve been working with Nabbesh.com, a freelance marketplace based in Dubai for nearly two years and believe I’ve found a formula which works almost every time for successful freelancers! Here are my top tips to make sure you drastically increase your chances of getting hired as a freelancer:
15 second summary: Nabbesh.com’s project managers will moderate all jobs to ensure clients have a current demand and a realistic budget versus scope of work. Then they will invite a few vetted freelancers that best match the client’s requirements to quote on the project. Once selected, you can message, collaborate, transfer files and request payments through Nabbesh.com’s new workspace! Moreover, our project managers will set the deposit amount to be paid in escrow depending on the project’s risk.
As business owners, managers or professionals, each one of us is continuously bombarded with messages all day long, eating up at our time – our most precious resource. Gone are the days were abundance meant strength as we usher in the days of curation and customization.
THIS MAP SHOWS NABBESH FREELANCERS DELIVERING WORK ACROSS THE GLOBE
We’re a team of passionate individuals building Nabbesh.com, the Arab world’s largest freelance marketplace, giving you access to 100k+ talented individuals. Our diverse network delivers great work for top companies and entrepreneurs.
Lama Fleifel is a PR executive at Pencell Public Relations & Event, Beirut. We spoke to Lama about her experience in outsourcing work to freelancers – Fleifel shares with Nabbesh:
Empowering Palestinian youth by bringing talent to a Middle Eastern jobs market.
Fursati, meaning “my opportunity,” is a pilot program by Silatech and Nabbesh to create virtual jobs for youth in Palestine.
Fursati aims to encourage businesses based mainly in the Gulf region to leverage the education and expertise of expert Palestinian talent to get work done remotely. To the Palestinians, Forsati will become a means for them to access quality jobs and earn a guaranteed income and reviews via Nabbesh.
Both Silatech and Nabbesh have a commitment to empowering youth employment across the Arab World. Our vision is for the pilot program to lay the foundation for creating thousands of jobs in the near future.
How does Fursati benefit employers?
The goal of our program is to create jobs for freelancers in Palestine. Freelancers are temporary workers hired for jobs on a per project basis, such as translation, design, writing, data entry or programming. Employers hire freelancers for many reasons, such as they are short-staffed or want to reduce costs, too busy and need extra help, or they are testing new ideas before investing in hiring full-time workers.
Aside from helping create jobs in Palestine, there are a number of benefits to employers participating in this program:
- Employers are able to hire qualified remote workers at an affordable rate
- All fees are covered by the project, saving employers money
- 12% fee for Nabbesh platform
- Wire transfer fees to the freelancer
- All employers that create 5 or more jobs will have their logo added to a “hall of fame” and have an opportunity to be featured in media relations
Most of the freelancers participating in this program are students or recent college graduates. They have relevant job skills, are highly motivated, educated, eager to work, and are Internet savvy, so they understand how to communicate and manage relationships with employers via email and Skype. So employers benefit by being able to tap into this highly qualified remote workforce.
How does Fursati benefit freelancers?
The program is called Fursati, or “my opportunity,” because it is our goal to create opportunities for Palestinian youth to develop their careers. There are a number of benefits to freelancers participating in the program:
- Opportunity to gain experience working for companies internationally.
- Earn ratings on Nabbesh that will help get more jobs in the future.
- Make money working remotely
- All wire transfer fees are covered by the project
Job applicants will also be limited to freelancers from Palestine. This means that there is less competition than when applying for other jobs on Nabbesh. Once you successfully complete a job, you will earn a rating that can help you to apply for more jobs in the future.
We also offer workshops in Palestine as well as online videos and webinars to help teach you how to apply, create a good resume and cover letter, and conduct work to the professional standards needed by employers. Our goal is to empower you to earn a living as a freelancer by having the program launch a successful career doing remote work.
How Does Fursati Work?
The program follows three easy steps.
(1) Employers post jobs and then (2) qualified freelancers apply. Employers should enter a special code when creating a job to make it eligible for this program.
(3) Employers can review resumes and cover letters, create a shortlist of top candidates, message and interview before making a hiring decision. All fees are waived, so employers also save money hiring a qualified worker.
Freelancers are all qualified and vetted to participate in the Fursati program so all applicants should have a high standard. This mitigates the risk for potential employers and helps us make the pilot a success.
A message from Nabbesh Founders to all our Friends & Owls.
Nabbesh is very proud to announce the launch of our new payment services, bringing us one step closer to providing our community of nearly 30,000 freelancers all the tools you need to work your way — and get paid! At Nabbesh, our vision is to be the preeminent platform for every independent worker and freelancer in the MENA region, providing you with a simple, easy to use, one-stop platform, to bring you more work opportunities and financial prosperity.
Our Vision: To connect every freelancer in the MENA region with a job!
When we started Nabbesh, we began with only a vision and the determination to make that vision a reality by improving the way MENA’s men, women, and youth work. Our goal is to create a virtual marketplace for people looking to break out of the confines of outdated work models. Technology has already revolutionized the ways we connect with friends, search for music, and now the way we search for, find, and get paid for project-based work!
One of our community members, Tariq Mehmood, was able to showcase his work to HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Ruler of Dubai, all because of Nabbesh. Nabbesh is truly a marketplace that provides unlimited exposure and merit based opportunities for our community, no matter where they live.
Nabbesh also prides itself on listening and quickly adapting to the needs of our highly-skilled community. In a recent study, Nabbesh found that 30% of our freelancers have had a client who never paid them! For us, that number was too high, and we personally know the negative impact that not getting paid can have on your daily lives. So we worked hard to provide a solution to this problem!
Getting Paid Just Got Easier
We know that there are risks associated with working for someone across borders, or online, and we also know that not everyone can commute to an office or work in more traditional ways. But we see the potential in you, and we have harnessed technology to make getting paid securely online simple. Our new payment system now allows you to send a work proposal, a deposit request or an invoice, while providing an escrow service, giving you more peace of mind.
What does this mean exactly? It means that people like Ameera in Jordan can work for people like Sami in Dubai, negotiate a work proposal on Nabbesh, and Ameera can actually see the deposit that Sami makes online through Nabbesh before she even begins her work. And with our credit card payment options and our options to receive payments through bank transfer, we have improved the way you hire, pay, and receive money for your work. No bank account? No problem! Nabbesh also offers simple payments through money transfer services (i.e., Western Union). We are taking the headache out of freelancing in this region.
Benefits of Nabbesh’s New Services:
-No need for paperwork. Send proposals, deposit requests & invoices via Nabbesh
-Transparency & convenience through secure online payments
-Freelancers can receive payments via bank or money transfer services (i.e., Western Union)
-Track project history, agreements, milestone changes, all in one place on Nabbesh
-A two way rating system which helps you build a reputation and improve your visibility
We hope you like the new and improved Nabbesh! Work your way and try it today!
